The Reconnecting Cambodia project is a family tracing service using DNA testing. Anyone of Cambodian descent, who has been separated from family by war, genocide, poverty and adoption, can apply for a free test. We have the Reconnecting Cambodia office in the UK, DNACambodia in the Netherlands and the Khmer Family Charity Organization (KFCO) on the ground leading our Cambodian operations. 

Our preferred MyHeritage test is a simple saliva swab of your inside cheek - no blood is required. Either, one of our representatives will assist you through your sample collection, or we will provide you with easy to follow instructions. Once your sample has been mailed to the MyHeritage lab, either by you or us, results should take between 4-6 weeks. 

By giving the Reconnecting Cambodia project permission to activate your test kit, process your DNA sample and manage your data under our account with MyHertiage, please make sure you read MyHeritage’s Terms & Conditions, Informed Consent and Privacy Policy, before proceeding.

By participating in the Reconnecting Cambodia project by signed consent, you agree to the terms outlined below:

•  As a valued new member of the Reconnecting Cambodia project, we own and manage your test and its results within our project account in MyHeritage’s database.  

• We, not you, will activate the test kit number we assign to you in our project account in the MyHeritage database.  Please see what we agree to on your behalf when activating your test kit here. 

• You will be notified of the results when ready and be invited by a MyHeritage link to view your unique DNA profile. We will guide you through the results and DNA relative matches to you. Anyone wanting to contact you has to go through us and vice versa until both parties agree on direct contact.

• We will continue to manage your test and results in the future. Your DNA profile is uniquely yours and belongs to you.  You can opt out of the project by written request at any time by contacting us at info@reconnectingcambodia.org.

• You provide us with as much family information as you can to help us build a family tree. To include names of parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts/uncles, the children of all of the above. If known, please include birth year if known, and birth village/province. 

• We need to be able to contact you, so we need a current email, phone number or Facebook page at all times. 

• We will upload your DNA results to other commercial DNA company databases, so more matches can be found.
